The Pale Blue Eye Movie Story:

In 1830, the navy commissions alcoholic retired detective Augustus Landor to investigate Cadet Leroy Fry's placement at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. Landor is a widower who lives on his own, seeing that his daughter Mathilde ran off some years ago.

Fry's coronary heart was removed from his body after he was executed by hanging. In the morgue, inspecting the corpse, Landor reveals a small fragment of a book clutched tightly in Fry's hand. Marks on Fry's neck and arms also confirm that he did no longer hang himself after becoming a murderer.

Landor enlists the help of Edgar Allan Poe and every other cadet in the academy who has expressed an interest in the case, with the officers' permission. Poe and Landor deduce from the "be aware" fragment that it changed into summoning Fry to a mysterious meeting. After a cow and a sheep are discovered within the area, butchered and with their hearts eliminated, it's deduced that the homicide might be related to black magic rituals.

Another cadet, Ballinger, is missing and is later discovered hanged, with each of his coronary hearts and his genitals eliminated. Stoddard, a 0.33 cadet who had been a colleague of the two victims, then vanished, and Landor believes he had reason to believe he was next in line to be killed.

Landor and Poe begin to suspect Dr Daniel Marquis's family, who was the first person brought into the investigation to perform the post-mortem on Fry. His particular suspicion is positioned toward his son Artemus and his daughter Lea (who suffers from random seizures).

While touring Dr Marquis's house, Landor reveals an antique officer's uniform; a person impersonating an officer has been worried about the mutilation of Fry's frame. Landor confronts Dr Marquis, who admits that he had resorted to black magic to remedy Lea's seizures, and first of all, she seemed to improve.

Poe is enchanted by Lea and volunteers to do something she wants. But he's been drugged, and when he awakens, Artemus and Lea are about to cut out his heart as part of the ritual to heal Lea. Landor arrives in time to save Poe, but the building catches fire, resulting in the deaths of Lea and Artemus.

Thinking that the case is now solved, the navy thanks Landor for his service. However, Poe, recuperating from his near-death experience, notices that the handwriting on the "Be Aware" fragment discovered in Fry's hand suits that of Landor. By connecting all of the facts he has gathered, it will be clear that Landor morphed into the cadets' murderer. Poe confronts Landor with his conclusion.

Landor's daughter Mattie was changed and raped by Fry, Ballinger, and Stoddard after attending her first ball years before. She later committed suicide by jumping off a cliff, traumatised by the experience. Landor, on the other hand, concealed this information from everyone and pretended that Mattie had fled.

Distraught, Landor got down to business to avenge his daughter. He left the cave with Fry in mind, luring him to a lonely spot sooner than he had planned. But when a patrol came through, Landor felt compelled to leave the frame there. Lea and Artemus later stole the coronary heart for their ritual. After killing Ballinger, Landor mutilated his corpse to make it seem that the cadet had been murdered by the same "madman" who had desecrated Fry's frame.

Poe tells Landor he has notes with handwriting samples that could link Landor at once to the murders; however, before leaving, Poe burns them. Landor is later visible on the cliff from which his daughter leapt to her demise. "Rest, my love," he'll say as he lets her hair ribbon blow away in the wind.
